SocialScan app for iPhone and iPad

Initially SocialScan enabled companies and events organizers to capture visitor contact tracing data, thus complying with pandemic tracing regulation in a very efficient and secure way. Registering clients is still mandatory for certain types of hosts, such as night clubs. .

The second half of 2021, the Federal Office of Public Health FOPH created a platform to manage the COVID certificate pass, a documentary evidence that you have had a COVID-19 vaccination, have had and recovered from the disease or have tested negative. Swiss constituents were able to store the COVID certificate in paper form or in the COVID Certificate app. The official platform had 3 main features

API to enable 3rd party tracing apps to include the validity check

COVID Certificate app In Switzerland, people who have been vaccinated, or who have tested negative or recovered from COVID can apply for a COVID certificate via this official app.

COVID Certificate Check appThe other component of the platform was the COVID Certificate Check app, which enabled public places and event organizers to check the validity of the Swiss COVID certificate or any certificate being compatible with the EU Digital COVID Certificate.

SocialScan app: our app integrates the check API. At scan, API reveal the following information coded inside the COVID Certificate:

Last name
First name
Date of birth
Result of the check (green=valid, red=not valid)

Presenting the QR code Covid certificate together with an ID became mandatory to access public places and events. On the other hand, contact tracing is still required for discotheques and certain indoor events for up to 50 people. Cantons could also require tracing for major events.

SocialScan is authorized to use the FOPH check app API, to offer the feature of checking the covid certificate validity while maintaining the tracing feature when required. The tracing features remain unchanged. Visitor data can be captured by scanning the Covid certificate QR-Codes and the arrival time.

SocialScan allows organizations to comply with the 2 requirements in a single scan: registering clients on behalf of tracers of the Health Authority and making sure only those who have access are vaccinated, healed or tested negative.

Authorised Health Authorities may request the visit data during the 14 days. After that delay, data is totally deleted as required by Swiss Data protection legislation

Data protection is a top priority

COVID certificate data is stored solely on the mobile device via the FOPH app. COVID certificates are protected by a digital seal (signature) and are thus forgery-proof.

COVID certificates are generated by the FOITT, but are not stored in a central system. That is why it is not possible to obtain a copy of an issued certificate.

The use of the Check API is limited to Switzerland and is subject to Swiss law.
